Roger Fenton calls the photograph 1855 Valley of the Shadow of Death. It is ranked second on the list of the photographs that changed the world. A photograph could not be taken in battle because of the time it took to be set up but Roger arranged for this area to be cleared with the cannon balls across the Barren Landscape.  The reason this is so impactful to society is because it shows a vast amount of area that people have risked their lives for their freedom of their country. My view on this photo is that it captures the darkness of this time and the time of how much destruction and death goes on after the battle. It also shows how big the area was that they battles and distraction is as far as the eye could see.
